Meet Giorgia Scozzesi | Industrial Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Giorgia Scozzesi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Giorgia, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
As long as I can remember I usually have been interested in everything that concerned school and I’ve noticed that particularly during college because the subjects studied were focused in what I was and of course I’m still interested in. This desire to learn and specialize in everything I was interested in has always spurred me on to study intensively but at the same time without making me waste too much time on books as everything I learned was within my grasp. Thanks to this, let me say, ability during days I was able to carve out hours to spend on other passions that I still love to pursue such as photography, hiking and working out.
After graduation I was immediately hired by a company and I was faced with a new and distinct change in my routine that initially upset the balance I had built for myself in the past as the time I could spend on my hobbies was drastically reduced and relegated to the weekends only (not always).
So this change had greatly demoralized me, and I had also noticed a change at the psychophysical level because the stress and challenges I had to face on a daily basis had increased, and at the same time the time during which I could relax and vent had decreased.
This situation was becoming unbearable to carry on so I decided to recreate a new balance for myself that would allow me to find this serenity.
Finally, after a period of “trial and error,” I was able to fit work, workouts and photography together again by reconciling them.
I had to work a lot on organization that I didn’t give too much weight to before and especially on the realization that you can’t always find time for everything because unfortunately (or fortunately) the days are only 24 hours long, and it will never be possible to do everything you would like. The important thing is to prioritize the important and main things and to cultivate everything that makes us feel good by adding it to our daily routine without depriving ourselves of it or giving it up if we don’t have enough time for sometimes. Only in this way can we find a balance between work, private life and our passions and live a peaceful life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
All my parents (my mum, dad and brother) are graduated and at the beginning I felt a little bit pressure because I didn’t think to be able to reach their same level. They have never make me pressure about that, of course they used to tell me that for my future it should have been better to me to graduate and, why not to get a master but they never push on it hardly because they saw I was good at school and I committed myself to everything that could have a positive impact on my future. What has always holding me back was simply my lack of confidence in my abilities and in myself and this was the only obstacle that many times stopped me but I remember cleary the day I started to think that I had everything to achieve what I really want and what makes me feel good.
It wan’t an easy process but thanks to my family, my boyfriend (now my husband) and my best friend I really changed my mind and saw that I concretely reacheed many goals that before I didn’t consider because I took them for garanted.
After graduation that I was immediately hired from a multinational company I’ve noticed that many of the tasks I do throughout the day have been instrumental in achueving several goals and the most obvious feedback I got was when my boss gave me a lot of more responsabilities and projects to carry out. This gave me more confidence in myself and now I’m finally able to appriciate every little step forward and every milestone, no matter how small they are.
Because it’s only bieliving in themselves and in ome’s abilites that one can add important goals.
It’s a clichè nut unfortunately it’s true when it’s said that our only limitation is ourselves especially when you think that a certain achievement is insignificant compared to what other people have achieved.
One can’t and shouldn’t compare oneself to others because everyone has theis own story and everyone has their own path, and whay may be a small accomplishment for some at the contrary may be a hard-earned accomplishment for others that has cost them sacrifice.
Just believe in your own abilities, without being haughty or belitting others, that you can achieve great things and you can give 100% in whatever you put your mind to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Let me preface this by sayng that Italy is all beautiful but having only one week available I would take them to visit our wonderful Dolomites, Here there are different Dolomities, depending on the area in which they are located they differ in conformation, fauna, flora and landscape; what they have in common is the type of rock that constitute them.
Apart from this introduction for those who have never visited Dolomities I will recommend the ones located in Trentino Alto Adige or near to Belluno. The reason is just due to the fact that these are very touristy and have all the means to be able to get even less trained people to the most beautiful peaks and refuges.
So first city ever will be Corvara, in the centre of Alta Badia. Here there are such many beautiful walks that lead to breathtaking scenery. My favourite ones are with no dubts the ascent to Sassongher or the ascent to Lagazuoi among the paths of World War I.
Next I would take them to the Belluno Dolomities via Falzarego pass and lead them first to the Three Peaks of Lavaredo and then to Lake Sorapis characterized by blue glacial waters.
After giving them a atste of our Alps, before taking them to the city where I live, I would take them along Lake Garda via the bike path that runs along the lake and allows for magnificent views of all beaches and towns along the lake.
Finally I will take them to Parma to eat succulent traditional foods and good local wine.
Particulary I will make them taste Tortafrtitta with all kinds of cold cuts, cheese and traditional sauces. Then the absolutely have to taste Cappelletti in brodo or Tortelli d’erbetta, two traditional main course the dough of which is made by hand on the same day. As a second course I would have them try the boiled meat with deliciouse vegetarian sauces such as peperonata or the green sauce. Finally as a sweet conclusion the Sbrisolona cake with zabaione (cream made with eggs and marsala) will end our culinary tour.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The person I’ve become is thanks to my family and the values they passed on to me but also to my husband who in 8 years accompanied me in my growth process, making me improve and believe every day a little bit more in my abilities.
