Meet Haley Westfall | Business Strategist | Community Builder | Serial Connector

We had the good fortune of connecting with Haley Westfall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Haley, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Simply stated, The West Collective was born out of a desire to help other people. As a former 20 year corporate leader turned 2 x founder, leading teams of 5 to 500 and leading initiatives surrounded around strategy and teams – I love that I am able to marry my former life with my second season as an entrepreneur and now coach other founders on how to increase their sales, retention and reach through content, community and teams.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The West Collective is a love child of my two most favorite things: strategy and people. Getting here wasn’t easy and to be honest my business has evolved so much over the last few years. What started as an choice of immediate necessity fueled by direct referrals has transformed into the most beautiful marriage of both seasons of my life. If I could go back in time, I’m not sure I would have done anything differently. Losing my corporate job forced me to get uncomfortable and try something new that I had no idea whether it would work out or not. I’m fairly confident if that had never happened, I would probably still be doing the same thing and would have never had the privilege of unlocking the 2.0 version of me. For someone just starting out, I would tell them to take messy action. Just start. Allow yourself to make the mistakes but also LEARN from them. Give yourself permission to pivot and worry less about being everything for everyone and focus more on being THE thing for SOMEONE. That’s when you unlock your individual magic and secret sauce.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oooo this is tough! I would definitely take advantage of all of the amazing places to see within a short drive! A day trip to Sedona, Jerome and/or Flagstaff depending on the time of year would be a must. I love the intimate staycation vibes at Andaz in Old Town Scottsdale so maybe a couple night stay there with some pool and spa time for sure. Hiking Camelback (as long as it wasn’t summer because that just sounds awful). Brunch at The Henry or Hash Kitchen. Happy hour bruschetta boards and wine at Postino’s and a dinner experience at Maple and Ash!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Although unconventional, I pivoted into entrepreneurship after an unexpected loss of a corporate role in an industry I had called home for almost two decades. I didn’t realize it then, but it was the push that I needed to step boldly out on my own and has been the greatest unforeseen blessing. A huge thanks is due to my husband and his unwavering support over the years as I made this scary transition and for always being my biggest cheerleader. I truly wouldn’t have made this initially terrifying transition if he wasn’t as supportive as he is. I truly believe that entrepreneurship can be an isolating place at times. Especially when you come from a corporate office environment constantly surrounded by other people. Collab Culture is a community that we created to fill that very void. A space for relationships to be born, visions to expand and businesses to flourish. I’m forever grateful for following my gut with my lifelong friend and business partner Stephanie Hendrick and I to create this space. It has been more of a gift to me than I could have ever imagined.
