We had the good fortune of connecting with Wafeeq Sabir and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wafeeq, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
One of the best things that I do for myself are mental and physical detoxifications. Habit wise, I am always looking to build good relationships with the right people.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of having the courage to leave home at 21 and begin a career in law enforcement. Little did I know that I would endure 25 years. I knew walking into this profession that many of the isms I would have to defeat, and I believe I did. I can honestly say that I did not contribute to the suffering of others.

I have 4 college degrees that all speak volumes to the spaces that I entered during those times of my life. Collectively, they provide a sense of balance and direction, allowing me to be who I am today…professor, father, grandfather, husband, brother, genealogist, Black Belt Instructor, Servant of All.

If you were to take your best friend on a trip, where would you go. Share a trip agenda and what would you do or see each day?

This trip will focus on Ghana, Africa. I have traveled to several European countries, but this trip is for my best friend. The purpose of this trip is for a full immersion in the history, culture, people, and landscapes. By the way, I have experienced visiting all of the places mentioned below

Day 1-2: Check in at the African Regent Hotel in Accra and visit the local mall.

Day 2 visit tailor Paul at Stallion Outlook to be fitted for suits.

Day 3-4: Visit W.E.B. DuBois Museum, Kwame Nkrumah Center, and Black Star Stadium.

Days 4-5: Visit the Elmina and Cape Coast slave dungeons.

Days 5-6: Visit the Kakum National Park

Day 6-7: Pickup suits from tailor and relax.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My success is due to the Almighty. I have life-long mentors and mentees that I acknowledge but not by name. However, my wife, sons and daughter make me proud.
