We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmyne Bursey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazmyne, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
This is a question that I believe at least everyone struggles with a few times in their lives. Sometimes I feel as human beings our first instinct is to give up when something doesn’t go our way. It’s what’s easiest for us, and we only know how to be comfortable. I remember a time when I started my YouTube channel venture and I had this HUGE vision for it. I was eager to get this done so I put all my effort energy and time into this vision and one day I got discouraged, I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted, and I wasn’t satisfied with the outcome of my work. It was all just negative thoughts rushing through my mind and that was the day I decided to just give up. I thought, “If I am not getting what I want, then it must not be working!” I then just gave up on the vision, on what was making me happy and I was just miserable. I wasn’t happy anymore and my goals stopped. I realized a few months after I quit that I had given up on myself. I gave up on my happiness and what I truly wanted. I tell this story because I am hoping that this resonates with whoever is reading this. Once I found how that I not only gave up on my goals and dreams, I gave up on myself. I had to fix it. I decided that to start again I needed to not ever give up on myself, no matter what the circumstances are! I have learned through this process of being an entrepreneur that patience is what determines whether you give up or not. So if you want to put energy into your happiness and your success, then you will know when to keep going or give up. Patience is YOUR power!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started making music in January 0f 2020. I have always enjoyed music since I was a little Jazmyne. I was thinking one day about how much music has gotten me through a lot and how it would be so awesome to make music for people who love and use music just as much as I do. Then BAM! I started making music and DJing on livestreams for fun and it became my new dream! I enjoy putting beats together and making different unique sounds. I also love to DJ at parties and events, I get a thrill out of making a playlist for every occasion. My artist name is DJ JazyJanae and I love it! I love making music and playlists for the people. I am going to continue to make music and DJ and hopefully, I will be doing it full-time. It’s only a matter of time before you all hear me on your radio or in your next favorite movie.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, if I had a friend coming to visit me we are most definitely hanging out in downtown Phoenix. The first stop would be Jobot Coffee, Diner, & Bar on Roosevelt St. They have live music, and its always a vibe there. Then we would have to stop by Culinary Dropout on 7th St. We can plan cornhole and just chill there. I like to just hang out at places and be in the atmosphere.
