We had the good fortune of connecting with Gary Covert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gary, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a business leader, I was always driven by the quest for faster and bigger growth, and how to make my leaders and teams more effective in achieving it. I had a successful career, but I always wondered what more we could have done as a team. That question led me to become a CEO/Executive Team Coach, where I worked with hundreds of leaders and teams across various industries and sizes for over 10 years. I discovered that the key to success was being FIT: having Focus, Innovation, and Teamwork. FIT organizations were unstoppable. They dominated their markets and outperformed their rivals. On the other hand, organizations that lacked FIT were doomed. They failed to innovate, to align their teams, and to execute their vision. They posed no threat to anyone but themselves. I developed a systematic process to help these teams become FIT and achieve remarkable results, such as higher company value, profits, sales, and wining cultures.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am an entrepreneur with a diverse background and a global perspective. I have been based in Phoenix for over 10 years, where I run a consulting practice that helps successful companies achieve bigger and faster results. I am also a partner in an oil and gas development company that has grown from a few wells to hundreds since 2020, and we are aiming to multiply that number by 10 soon. My journey has not been easy. I challenge myself every day and like to take on things that push me out of my comfort zone. But that is how people grow. I challenge my consulting clients to reach their full potential. I expect nothing less from myself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We love Arizona and all the opportunities to explore. When friends come to Arizona we like to head north to Cottonwood and Sedona hiking and wine tasting. If we have time we will of course take folks to the Grand Canyon and to the Peaks in Flagstaff.

For shorter trips we love swinging down to southern AZ for winetasting and bird watching in the Sonoita/Patagonia area.

In town, we love the downtown areas of Gilbert and Chandler. So many great places to experience!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We are all a product of the inspiration, information, and support of others. I would like to recognize all my great clients over the years. Their success is a big part of my legacy. I have also been blessed with many mentors over the years including excellent executive coaches like Lynn Shemmer and well-known entrepreneurs like Lee Benson. My wife, Kim, is also a huge inspiration. She is the CEO of Silverleaf Travel, a luxury travel service for successful empty nesters and their families. I love that we are both entrepreneurs and get to create the life we want together.
