We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Hart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
God & Family. Nothing comes before God and my family, and they are the reasons I get up in the mornings and do what I do. God gave me this talent as a gift in the first place, and I always want to use it to honor Him. He has blessed with such a loving and supportive husband and family who constantly encourage me to keep going, even when it’s tough (which is honestly most of the time!) They remind me to enjoy the journey and the process, and trust the path that God has me on.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There are so many lessons I’ve learned and are continuously learning along the way. I have to constantly remind myself that God has me on my own path that is separate from others. It’s so easy to compare yourself to others in general, but especially in this competitive industry. Even if I’m not comparing myself to someone else’s journey and career, someone else in the business is comparing me to others. It’s just the way the industry is. There is so much focus on “numbers;” social media numbers, streaming numbers, etc. Also, there is not “one way” to “make it” in music. Everyone has a different story, so that’s another reminder to not try to copy what everyone else is doing. Even though I still struggle with it daily, I have to try to remember to support and cheer on others while staying in my own lane, appreciating my own unique talents, working hard, focusing on what I can control, and let go of the rest. After writing all of this I realize that I need to take my own advice. Haha!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I am more of an introvert and homebody, so I don’t go out much and I don’t know Nashville’s nightlife as much as I should. With that being said, you can’t come to Nashville without seeing live music, so I always recommend a show at The Listening Room Cafe. You get to enjoy brunch, dinner, or drinks while experiencing a true Nashville songwriters round experience where 3-4 songwriters/artists share songs they’ve written and the stories behind them. These may be songs you’ve heard on the radio or songs they wrote last week.
Nashville has some GREAT food, restaurants, and coffee shops. Some of my favorite restaurants are Lockeland Table, Hearts, Butcher & Bee, Carne Mare, Five Points Pizza. House of Cards is great for both dinner and entertainment! For coffee shops I’d say Crema, Americano Lounge, and Frothy Monkey (the one on 51st is my fav). And you must try Jen’s Ice Cream and Five Daughters Bakery! The museums are fun to visit, as well. The Country Music Hall of Fame is a must, and I’ve heard the Johnny Cash Museum is awesome.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My grandma is approaching 106 years old, and let me tell you, she is my BIGGEST fan. Since the day I was born she has loved (and spoiled) me (and all her other grandkids) unconditionally. Her support and encouragement seriously keeps me going. When I’m feeling down, it is so comforting to talk to her. She knows just what to say by being empathetic, understanding, and giving the best advice. She checks in regularly and loves to remind me how important it is to have a positive outlook on life and get plenty of sleep, especially 8-9 hours a night. 😉 Also, I’ve posted videos of her on my social media pages, and she sure is popular with millions of views, likes, and comments racking up!
