We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriana Bitonti and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adriana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always had the urge to become an entrepreneur and just couldn’t find what made me the most happy. I spent years in the medical field but wasn’t sure that was the end all be all for me. When my mother passed in 2017 I knew I wanted to continue her legacy and share her story in a way that would help others and bring me closer to people all while showing off something I would love to do. I had the idea to start my business as a way to display many emotions and feelings in someone’s home and candles are one thing that always bring people relaxation and joy. You use candles for so much in life weather it be for fun, birthdays, memorials, honoring those and more. It felt perfect.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I never thought I would be where I was today with making a single candle in my kitchen. I have this idea for a business, and a way to honor my mother, and it started with one single candle in honor of her and those who were fighting breast cancer, and it has led me so much and just one short year. It has not been easy, but every second has been worth it! There is a ton of testing, trial and errors, waste of product or offering free product to get your name out there but with hard work and motivation your dreams can always become reality. I continue to learn about the craft that when I first started knew nothing about. I have made so many amazing friends along the way and the candle community, and the small business community in general has led me to more amazing relationships than I ever thought was possible! With them, I continue to learn so much about myself, my business, my craft and where I want to end up!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am really big on anywhere near the water! Whether that be a lake, beach or pool I want to be there. I am also a huge foodie. I love trying new foods, especially coffee and boba! So an ideal time with my best friend would be eating, attending markets or festivals and relaxing by the pool!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband has been my rock through it all! From investing in the start up of my business to believing that I could do it from the beginning he never stops encouraging me to do more. When I’m scared to take the risk he is there in the background telling me to go for it. He deals with our house filled with inventory, gets up early to help me set up for markets, spends hours listening to my ideas and goals and helps me decide on what scents and vessels! I have a vision and he always sees it through with me.
