We had the good fortune of connecting with Ahnjellyka Wardell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ahnjellyka, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures of life’s moments, whether small or gran. At times, I couldn’t afford to do so (being in college for example) or I wished I was behind a camera for others. When I started my business, I immediately knew I wanted bridge a gap when it came to providing quality photography services at prices that could be affordable to a wide range on clients.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When it comes to editing, I’m influenced in different ways (by the people I capture, the environment at the time), so I don’t have a certain aesthetic as I see many other professional photographers do. I was worried this would become a challenge in the photo world but I’ve been proven otherwise. Being able to ask clients if they prefer a certain aesthetic also helps in helping their vision come to life! As I continue to grow and learn in my business, I am so grateful for all my clients who have entrusted me.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband saw my potential in photography and over the years would encourage me to start my business. I’d use every excuse as to why I wouldn’t but it ultimately came down to not believing in myself. After having our second child, he gifted me my first camera (up to this point, I had always used iPhone cameras) and told me it was time. After capturing our babies monthly pictures and moments of their first year of life. At this point, I had no excuse not to start my little business.
