We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiny Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Destiny, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I started to pursue social media as a career when I caught a glimpse of it’s potential. I grew up interacting with social media and even took classes on it in college. I have watched it evolve to what it is now and have seen first hand its impact on advertising. Social media can be a great resource for marketing any small business and is significantly cheaper than traditional marketing tactics. Whether you are a small business owner or someone who enjoys documenting the sweet parts of life, there’s a place for you. The community I have created constantly encourages me and inspires me to create the best content possible. There really is so many people I have met and places I have been that would have otherwise been almost impossible to recreate without the technology we have today. The best part is it all just starts with something most of us use everyday, our phone!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One day I was on social media and thought to myself. “Wow, this person is getting paid to post on their social media?” “I wanna do that!” So I did just that, I spent the next couple weeks researching tips on how to get a following and have brands reach out to you. I studied social marketing in school so I had some back ground knowledge which really help lay the foundations for me. I have learned some hard lessons along the way; one being that you really can’t care what others think. People will constantly make remarks about how often I post on social or how I’m “trying to be an influencer.” When I hear comments like that I think, “No, I AM an influencer.” The best part about social media is you don’t have to have a huge following to be involved. If anything people are more relatable and better for marketing when they don’t have a huge presence.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My go-to place would be downtown Phoenix. I am born and raised in Lexington Kentucky but have always been a city girl at heart. Going for a hike with my dog then coming back and getting ready to get drinks and food then head to Scottsdale for the night would be a perfect day spent!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family has always helped me and had my back, wouldn’t be where I am today without their love and support!
