We had the good fortune of connecting with Serena Nicolle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Serena, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve always loved music ever since I was a child, but my passion didn’t truly start until I sang at my first talent show when I was 11 years old. The song was “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus. I saw how I could move people, physically and emotionally, and decided to continue from then on. I started writing songs when I was 14 years old, a freshman in high school. Soon after, I put a group together to show case my original music. Unfortunately, no one could fully commit to the group and I made the decision that I now had enough confidence to start performing solo my second year of college. My dad promoted me like crazy and still continues to do so. Thanks, Dad! Now, I perform all over the valley and I am lucky enough to be able to pay musicians to join me 🙂

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love what I do. I love being inspired and whipping out my guitar, writing to some chords or playing the piano and creating a new melody. I also play ukulele too which is always fun to showcase during my performances. What I am most excited for is my first full album coming out! it will be released the beginning of 2021 with some single drops before then of course. my team and I have work extremely hard on this and it will be showcasing many different sides of my art! I can’t wait to show everyone 🙂 I can’t imagine where my music would be without my support system. Thankfully, my family and friends have always supported my musical journey. I thank my parents for being such great mentors and sharing their knowledge and guiding me on the right path to reach for the stars! I am only human and I still deal with things, if you know what I mean. I get stressed, sad, upset and I even deal with the typical stage fright and anxiety of being on stage in front of people now and then. But it’s always music that puts my feet back on the ground and centers me. It brings me joy, passion, and songwriting is what I turn to every time. A big lesson that I have learn and continue learning about is that YOU CAN’T PLEASE EVERYONE and that you need to LOOK OUT FOR YOUR OWN HAPPINESS. You have to do what makes YOU happy. Periodt.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It hard to do many thing right now because of the pandemic but what I like to do with my best friend is go to coffee shops. We love coffee, like, it’s bad. Provision, Lola coffeeshop, Sip coffee and beer garage, and A.T. Oasis coffeeshop are places that I love and they’re local #supportlocal . I really love taking trips to the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff. I would do that over and over again. Plus, it is absolutely breath-taking every time. You can take a moment to remember what earth/mother nature has provided us with and her beauty.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shout out to Alejandro Gordillo. He played a big role in producing my EP, “Silver Lining” and a full album that I am soon to release. He has recorded and mixed everything in both my EP and my surprise album and is just all around an amazing audio engineer. He also runs sound at my live show with my full band. As you can see, what he does is a big job. Alejandro not only works with me, but he works along side many other great musicians, songwriters, artists, etc. And he is the Technical Director at the jazz venue, The Nash, in Downtown Phoenix. He is awesome!!
