Meet Enrique Manon | Journalist and Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Enrique Manon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Enrique, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am originally from México, City. My career started when I was part of a radio station in México. The world of mass media interests me in a way that has inspired me to do my creative work. Creating stories based on popular culture shaped my vision to be inclined to make my style more popular-oriented. Also, I believe my goal is to make people enjoy more art in any form.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am excited about creating a different angle on my work. My work stands out because I allow myself to explore simple things but with an impact. It started with a professor in college that made me rethink my career.
The beginning of my career started in the newsroom. I followed all the stories in my city, which I would tell later on the radio, then published in papers, and photographed those impactful events. These mediums were the place to explore how to capture the drama and essence in a photo. The lesson I learned was to be professional no matter what. All projects I take are a commitment, and following that, I believe each is special, so for me, it is essential to bring the vision of the one who hires me but also put my vision in the work.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A good group of friends can’t miss this first stop to pizza place that it is located on Central Avenue called Federal Pizza a nice slice of that tasty pizza is a good starter before hitting Downtown Phoenix to look for some night experience and get some drinks in places like The Cornish Pasty were you can get some drinks and play pool all the night. Also, be in the movies it is a great experience so we can hit later Harkins theatres to see great classic movies.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I believe all my teachers are part of the process of shaping my commitment to art and the execution of my skills and abilities. Being challenged helps me pursue a more eclectic approach to my work.
