We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephen Spears and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephen, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Our thought process behind starting spearIT was rooted in a desire to make technology more accessible and approachable for businesses. After spending years in corporate IT, we realized that many small to mid-sized businesses were struggling with complex tech issues, often without the resources to hire a full IT team. We wanted to create a company that not only solved these problems but did so in a way that was clear, personable, and tailored to each client’s needs. Our goal has always been to take the stress out of IT, so our clients can focus on what they do best—running their businesses.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What keeps me going and makes me excited is the opportunity to help my customers with their technology needs. I love building solutions from the ground up, finding the right fit for each client’s unique challenges. My journey is still unfolding, and I feel like my business is just at the beginning. Every day brings a new lesson in running a business or discovering the latest technology. It’s never easy being a business owner—when no one else can do the job, it’s up to you to figure it out. That means learning to stretch yourself and tackle tasks you wouldn’t normally handle.
Through it all, what I’ve learned is that being adaptable and focused on genuinely understanding and meeting our clients’ needs is key. At spearIT, we’re not just about fixing IT issues; we act as your dedicated IT department, taking the stress of technology off your shoulders so you can focus on what you do best—running your business. Our goal is to make sure your technology works seamlessly and effectively, giving you peace of mind and the freedom to grow your business without IT worries.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For me, when friends visit, it’s less about the specific places we go and more about the quality time we spend together. My main goal is to make sure they feel comfortable and enjoy their visit. That said, I do love taking them to downtown Gilbert—it has a great vibe, and there are some fantastic spots like Postino’s or Liberty Market where we can grab a bite and relax. If they have kids with them, I’d definitely take them to explore some of the new parks around Queen Creek. It’s a perfect way to let the kids burn off some energy while we catch up and enjoy the day.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my wife, Emily. She’s been my rock and constant source of encouragement throughout this journey of starting spearIT. Her unwavering support and belief in my vision have been instrumental in turning this dream into a reality. Emily’s encouragement has pushed me to pursue my passion for making technology more accessible to businesses, and I’m incredibly grateful for her love and support.
