Meet Joshua Rodriguez-urroz | Executive chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Rodriguez-urroz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joshua, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When Mat and I started Ansley Table, our vision was to recreate the joy and experience of dining out in a restaurant but within the comfort of our clients’ homes. We wanted to eliminate the hassle of cooking and cleaning, allowing people to focus on enjoying their time with loved ones. Private catering became the perfect way to achieve this, offering a more intimate and personalized experience. Our clients can interact directly with the chefs, have a say in crafting a customized menu, and ultimately enjoy a meal that reflects their tastes and preferences. It’s about making each event special and tailored to the individual, bringing the art of dining to a more personal level.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Unlike traditional catering companies with fixed menus, we distinguish ourselves by offering a personalized experience where clients are actively involved in creating their own menu. Whether it’s recreating a cherished family recipe or revisiting a favorite dish from a memorable trip, every detail is meticulously crafted to ensure an unforgettable dining experience.
Our journey to this point has not been without challenges. From struggling to secure bookings to juggling multiple responsibilities, transitioning to full-time catering has been daunting. However, these obstacles have reinforced the lesson that significant success often requires taking bold, sometimes intimidating, leaps of faith.
We want the world to understand that choosing us means more than just having a meal prepared in your home. It means crafting a memorable experience, with every bite carefully designed to create lasting memories and make your event truly special.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Arizona offers a wealth of beautiful and engaging destinations. I would recommend visiting Sedona for its stunning scenic views and hiking opportunities. Exploring the vibrant nightlife in Downtown Phoenix or Old Town Scottsdale would also be a highlight. Additionally, I would take them to some of my favorite restaurants in the valley. But Most importantly, I would prepare a memorable dinner at home, featuring their favorite dishes, and host an enjoyable evening with close friends.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout the various challenges and successes, numerous individuals have been deserving of gratitude. First and foremost, I must acknowledge my family for their unwavering support at every stage. Additionally, several close friends have been instrumental in helping me persevere, even during moments when I considered giving up. Their support has been invaluable in navigating through these experiences.
