We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Gallen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My artistic journey began in 2002 as the gallery specialist at Z Gallerie in Scottsdale, AZ. There, I brought the Kierland Commons gallery location to number one in the company for four years by creating art walls that told individual stories in sections throughout the gallery. Over the last decade, I dedicated myself to raising my three daughters while developing my iPhone photography skills as a creative outlet. I was able to capture the incredible, everyday moments of being a mom, and share on Instagram which drove me to fine-tune my craft.
In 2016, my husband and I purchased a restaurant in Phoenix, AZ, where I assumed the role of creative director for all social media outlets. I created visual stories of food and wine on Instagram, which drew attention to my photography skills. This led to friends outsourcing me for their Instagram needs, and eventually, I became the visual content director for multiple Instagram accounts, creating and publishing original content.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets my work apart is my ability to see who a person is and convey that visually, whether it’s themselves or their business. I take pride that I get to pair the life stories of my clients through imagery with my creative curation and call it a full-time job.
My journey hasn’t been without challenges. Many people doubted that I could make a living solely by managing Instagrams, believing I needed to cover the whole scope of social media management, not just the visual side. I overcame these challenges by staying true to my passion and proving my ability to create compelling visual content that resonates with audiences.
Showcasing who someone is through their Instagram is my happy place. I am passionate about showing the world that there is beauty everywhere—you just have to look for it. I want the world to know that I am dedicated to capturing and highlighting these hidden moments of beauty through their lens, creating a visual story that is both authentic and engaging.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The food scene. Hearth 61 at Mountain Shadows, their amazing food and their monthly sipping seminars for cocktail and wine education. Pizzeria Bianco at Town & Country, Pa La, to name a few.
My favorite place for an escape with my husband is Castle Hot Springs. It’s an oasis and only an hour outside of Phoenix. The hot springs are heaven on earth and the food is grown on property and exceptional.
Anything outdoors (Between October and May of course);
Hiking the many mountain preserves. The amount of hiking trails in central Phoenix is extremely expansive. The 360 degree view from most mountains in the valley are breathtaking.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Jim. When I left my job in 2014 to have our baby, I expressed my desire to stay home and raise our children while simultaneously finding a creative outlet that could help provide for our family. At the time, I had no idea what that would entail, but Jim supported me wholeheartedly. He backed my decision to be a stay-at-home mom and gave me the space and time to figure out how to pursue my gift. Without his unwavering support and encouragement, I wouldn’t have had the courage to embark on this journey.
I also want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my clients, especially those who were with me from the beginning. They rode the roller coaster of my journey to becoming a visual content creator. These clients were willing to trust me with showcasing their brands, despite my limited experience in social media marketing at the time. Their faith in my abilities and their willingness to invest in my vision played a crucial role in my professional growth. Their support and feedback helped me hone my skills and build a portfolio that I am proud of today. Their belief in me was invaluable, and I am immensely grateful for their trust and collaboration.
