Meet Hunter Rodgers | Restaurant Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hunter Rodgers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hunter, what matters most to you?
Honesty and Communication. With honesty and communication no problem is unsolvable. It’s also the only way for a team to learn, grow and improve most effecticly. I will take these two values and traits over pure talent and skill any day!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Pizza To The Rescue, our mission is clear: to delight your taste buds with incredible pizza while simultaneously making a positive impact on the lives of rescue dogs awaiting their forever homes. We’ve teamed up with our local dog rescue heroes, Almost There Rescue, to ensure that every pizza you enjoy contributes to the well-being of these deserving pups. With 25% of all proceeds from pizza sales going directly to Almost There Rescue, you can indulge guilt-free, knowing that your meal is making a difference.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have done this more than a few times, and think I’ve really got the long-weekend intineary dialed! Wednesday night I’d have to bring my best friend to Pizza To The Resuce for the famous off-menu (Wednesdays only) cowboy cut Arizona Wagyu ribeyes grilled to medium rare perfection over the open fire! Pair that with a bottle of wine (or 3), a wood-fired pizza and some handmade pasta and our long weekend is off to a perfect start. Thursday would be a day for a little AZ/PHX/Scottsdale history lesson. I’d start the day by going to Scottsdale’s Museam of the West. Its open layout tells a wondrful tale of western and southwestern culture through its beatufiully decorated exhibits and wonderful artwork, many of which is original and donated to the museam by its amazing supporters. Next would be a lunch in Old Town at either AZ88 or The Mission followed by a quick visit to the Scottsdale Historical Museum. It’s always fun to show out-of-towners the orignial intention of Scottsdales’ perfectly square mile gridded micro-utopias. Mr. Winfield Scott was really on to something! Dinner that evening would either be at Fat Ox or Frank and Lupes depending on the vibe, followed by drinks at either the Sanctuary’s Jade Bar or The Rusty Spur. Friday morning would be spent golfing at The Phoenician, which is never complete without a basket of hot wings (I go suicide works combo) and a beer at JT’s Bar and Grill. Friday night dinner would be at one of my all time favorites, Glai Baan! I wake up every day and thank them for their existance! Saturday would be a day trip up to Sedona for a full day of hiking and adventure, followed up by dinner at either Mariposa or Elote Cafe. Sunday morning would be a breakfast at none other than The Original Pancake House for a world class stack of pancakes, the best breakfast burrito in town, and a big hi-five to Ron, the longtime legendary owner.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a big shoutout to my partner, Geri Hormel! She’s the best!
