We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaala James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaala, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk-taking is… obviously… risky. However, I believe taking risks is key to making fundamental changes in your life. I play life by the “shotgun theory, ” meaning I “shoot” at a million things and see what sticks. The only thing is, you need safety. When taking a risk, it’s essential to be aware of potential consequences and how to navigate them. You should also ensure you take risks at the appropriate time for them. So, when I shoot my shot at a new risk, I take my time and set myself up for success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Blue Jaa Management is a comprehensive communications agency specializing in holistic marketing solutions. Our focus on accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion sets us apart. We offer top-tier, ethically sound strategies backed by rigorous academic and analytical approaches, ensuring data-driven campaigns. It was not an easy journey. Even now, I have just moved back to Phoenix from DC, where my entire clientele base is, so moving out to the valley has been a complete reset regarding establishing a network. I have learned a lot about community building at this time and how to properly “show off” my professional portfolio.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Firstly, I would definitely have them take a class at [solidcore] in Scottsdale; then we would also get pressed juices from Pressed Juice in Scottsdale Quarter. I would want to shop at Antique Trove, My Sister’s Closet, and Uptown Cheapskate (the Chandler location), Rayoog Cafe for lunch. I would want to do some activities like seeing the Scottsdale Public Library, a spa, or a show at the Hale Theatre in Gilbert. Finally, for dinner, I would want to go to Ocean 44 or Toca Modera.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my close friend, Taylor Worsham. She has supported my entrepreneurial efforts from the beginning and was my most significant support system throughout my time in university. Her professional skillset has been invaluable to many of my projects and her tenacious personality has always pushed me to work harder and chase after seemingly unattainable goals.
