We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Borum and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what makes you happy? Why?
My true happiness is found in nature. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest gave me countless opportunities to explore trails and mountains, which instilled a deep appreciation for the outdoors. I feel most alive when I’m breathing fresh air and savoring life outside.
These days, you’ll often find me taking long walks through the forest with my dogs, finding moments of peace between client calls. I also love spending time gardening, diving into a good book, and cherishing moments with my kids and grandchildren—they bring so much joy to my life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve had the privilege of working in many successful roles over the years. My experience in retail and food service taught me the importance of exceptional guest service and laid the foundation for me to launch three successful businesses before starting my financial coaching journey.
Discovering the power of getting (and staying) out of debt transformed my life, and it felt only natural to channel that experience into helping others achieve the same freedom. I am now a financial coach, dedicated to guiding individuals and families toward financial independence. I help clients create personalized budgets, develop effective debt repayment strategies, and build a roadmap for a brighter, more secure future. Together, we’ll work to turn financial stress into financial confidence, one step at a time.
Over the years, I’ve learned that while things rarely come easy, failure isn’t the end—it’s simply the opportunity you gain because you dared to try. This mindset has been instrumental in helping me and my clients face challenges head-on, learning and growing through every step of the journey. Financial freedom is possible, and I’m here to help you achieve it with practical strategies, encouragement, and a clear path forward.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Arizona is home to so many unique and exciting experiences! Some of my favorite ways to enjoy this beautiful state include taking peaceful after-work walks on the Apache Wash Trail—it’s such a serene and scenic spot. I also love grabbing a burger at Big Earl’s in Cave Creek, followed by a drive through the boulders to admire the stunning homes in the area.
For coffee, Village Roastery in Scottsdale is a must. Their freshly roasted beans deliver the best flavor and depth I’ve ever had. On more adventurous days, I might tackle a tough hike at Tom’s Thumb or Picacho Peak, where the effort is always rewarded with breathtaking views.
Of course, nothing beats relaxing by the pool with a good book, soaking up the amazing weather that truly defines life in Arizona.
