We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Natalie Buermann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Buermann, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to create something that blended science, beauty, and soul. As a naturopathic doctor with a deep appreciation for aesthetic medicine, I saw a need for a space where patients could feel both empowered and cared for—where treatments weren’t just about appearance but about confidence, wellness, and longevity. Starting my own business was about creating that experience from the ground up, with my values at the center.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Desert Reign MedSpa, we help people feel good in their skin—but our mission goes far beyond the surface. We take a holistic approach that connects health, hormones, and lifestyle to each patient’s outward appearance, empowering them with education and personalized care. For me, aesthetics is more than beauty—it’s about transformation, confidence, and helping people reconnect with who they are.

I’m also deeply committed to raising the standard of care in the aesthetic industry through cadaver-based, safety-focused injector training. By educating professionals with a strong foundation in anatomy and ethics, we’re not just improving outcomes—we’re changing lives on both sides of the needle.

Running a business, raising four boys, and wearing multiple hats has taught me that balance isn’t a fixed state—it’s a rhythm. Some seasons are busier than others, but I’ve learned to be intentional with my time and present in whatever role I’m in—whether that’s mom, doctor, or boss. Through it all, I’ve shown my boys what resilience looks like: building something meaningful, navigating setbacks, and staying true to my values.

At Desert Reign, we don’t chase trends or gimmicks. We focus on education, safety, and results that last. Patients and professionals trust us because we lead with integrity and never stop learning.

What lights me up most is the transformation I see in my patients and students—when a mom says she finally feels like herself again, or when an injector finds the confidence in their technique. Aesthetics is the perfect blend of art and medicine. I love the precision, the science, the anatomy—but also the creativity, the individuality, and the challenge that every unique face brings. That’s what keeps me inspired.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a close friend were in town for the day, I’d kick things off with a caffeine fix at DeGiNo Coffee in Verrado—it’s the perfect cozy spot to catch up over lattes. Then we’d head to Terra Cactus Boutique in Goodyear for a little retail therapy (because who doesn’t love discovering a hidden gem). After shopping, we’d treat ourselves to glowing skin with facials at Desert Reign Medspa—our aesthetician is a total magician. Next, we’d soak up the Arizona sun with a relaxing dip at The Wigwam’s pool. When hunger hits, it’s off to Papa Paul’s for some seriously delicious brick oven pizza and pasta. And to top it all off? We’d be dancing like nobody’s watching under the stars at The Corral—laughing too loud and singing off-key!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, my biggest shoutout goes to my husband, Ian. He’s been my rock, my voice of reason, and my biggest supporter from the very beginning. Whether I’m juggling patients, kids, or business ideas at midnight, he’s always there—steady, encouraging, and ready to jump in wherever I need him. I truly couldn’t do any of this without him.

I also want to recognize my incredible family. From cheering me on through every milestone to helping with the kids when I needed an extra hand, their love and support have been everything. They’re the reason I push harder and dream bigger.

And of course, my amazing staff deserves endless credit. Their passion, hard work, and dedication are the heartbeat of Desert Reign and Just the Head. They show up every day with purpose, and I’m beyond lucky to have such an inspiring team by my side.
