We had the good fortune of connecting with Geoff Culbertson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Geoff, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Art has always been a source of inspiration for me. Growing up, I was captivated by my father’s drawing skills—even though he only dabbled, there was something magical about it. I was naturally drawn to creative people, and that world just felt like home. I began my college journey as a fine arts major, but when I found out I was going to be a parent, I shifted to a science degree, knowing it would open more stable career opportunities. Years later, now an empty nester, I’ve returned to painting—and this time, with deeper appreciation. The more seasoned version of me finds joy not just in the outcome, but in every part of the process. I think I love it even more now than I did back then.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve built my career in Information Technology, with a focus on launching manufacturing facilities. What’s always driven me is the tangible impact—being part of something that quite literally gets built. Working in manufacturing allowed me to contribute not just to the systems, but to the very infrastructure that produces real-world products. There’s a deep satisfaction in knowing the solutions I implemented helped shape the spaces where innovation happens. I got my start as a help desk associate in an automotive plant, and at first, I thought it was just a stepping stone. But as I spent more time on the floor, I found myself drawn to the heartbeat of the operation—the manufacturing process itself. What began as a technical support role gradually evolved into a genuine passion for being hands-on with production and building solutions that kept things moving.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hosting visitors in Arizona is easy—we’re surrounded by some of the most breathtaking parks and landscapes in the country. I love sharing the natural beauty of the region, whether it’s a hike through one of our local gems or a bigger excursion to Sedona or the Grand Canyon. And of course, no visit is complete without great food, so we always plan around memorable meals. The Southwestern landscape that inspires my paintings naturally spills over into how I curate the experience—it shapes not only what I create on canvas, but how I share this place with the people I care about.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this chapter to the friends and family who have supported me along the way—and especially to my father, whose quiet creativity lit the spark in me years ago.
