Meet Milan Bakić | Head coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Milan Bakić and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Milan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’m passionate about contributing to the growth and well-being of my community in a positive and impactful way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started in the world of martial arts at age six and never left it. In 1997, while living on Guam, I became intrigued by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu…something about the art immediately pulled me in. After moving to San Diego in the early 2000s, I officially began my BJJ journey. I’ll never forget the day one of my close friends told me that earning a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu was nearly impossible…that most people quit before they ever get close. From that moment on, I decided this was exactly what I wanted to pursue. And yes, it’s been a wild journey. BJJ has taught me more than just technique. The philosophy behind the art has shaped who I am…instilling discipline, perseverance, patience, teamwork and a mindset that applies to every aspect of my life. Now, I’m here to pay it forward. To share what I’ve learned and help build the best academy we possibly can…not just for the love of the sport, but for the growth of everyone who walks through our doors.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d go to train, I’d show them the gym, go to the shooting range, ride motorcycles and explore..Scottsdale has a lot to offer! Maybe even a round of golf, if it’s not too hot!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
