We had the good fortune of connecting with Nycoal Denz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nycoal, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When starting my own business, my thought process is driven by the desire for greater freedom in my schedule, particularly to pick up my children from school and spend more quality time with my family.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I initially got where I am today by working a second job as a Massage Therapist back in 2016 at a Wellness Center. I always had a corporate job to support my family and worked as a part-time Massage Therapist at numerous places for additional income. This Wellness Center in particular provided chiropractic care and aesthetic services. Once I started sitting in on the trainings for the aesthetic services, I knew that was what I wanted to pursue and do for the rest of my life. I’ve always had an interest in skin care and followed anything that Cosmo Magazine would suggest since I was a teenager. I already had a passion for helping people and knew if I could learn more about addressing skin concerns and be able to help people in that sense then I would be living my dream.
Pursuing this dream in my mid 30s was not easy to say the least. I was planning a wedding and taking care of three children when I decided to make this career change and go back to school. Once I graduated, I did open my own business in a salon suite and became pregnant one month later after signing my lease. While it was all very exciting, It was terrifying as well! I was very fortunate to have such a strong community of friends and family behind me that supported my business and helped me grow to where I had to open a second salon suite and hire another person to work for me. We then grew to where I had a third person to work for me, and I knew I needed to expand into a storefront. It has been one year exactly since I purchased Renewed Med Spa and Tanning and I couldn’t be more proud. This Med Spa is a one stop shop for everyone! Not only do we provide facials, injectables, lashes, brow services, all things tanning but we also have a whole wellness center with different machines to help everyone with different health concerns or fitness goals. We also provide private parties which you don’t find at many other Med Spas.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First and foremost, I would definitely be taking them to my Med Spa for some pampering. I would set up a nice relaxing facial with one of my Aestheticians, a little Cryo T-Shock on any area of concern they had, a nice massage in the new 6D Zero Gravity Massage Chair, a 20 minute relaxing session in the new Hydration Station and then 20 minutes in the Red Light Therapy Bed. Next, we would head over to Hair House to utilize their Head Spa and get a blowout then we would move onto Magic Feet where we would go see Tom and JoJo for a nice one hour full body massage.
Most of my friends and I are outdoorsy people so we would definitely be heading up to Sedona for a few days to do a nice morning hike and then either hit up Local Juicery afterward or Agave 89 Cantina for some lunch. We would stay at my favorite bed-and-breakfast place The Inn at Thunder Mountain then go to Mariposa’s for dinner.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I want to thank God for guiding me and giving me the strength to pursue this dream. I also want to give a huge shout out to my incredible children and my amazing husband for their unwavering motivation and support as I went back to school later in life and embarked on this journey of starting my own business. My husband Kevin has been my biggest supporter and my rock through this incredible journey, I appreciate him more than he will ever know. And of course, I need to thank my truly wonderful friends and family who constantly lifted me up through the highs and lows of this new venture and . I couldn’t have done it without any of you!
