We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Time and financial freedom. The ability and freedom to work when I want and be with my family without having to ask to be places that are important for my family was first. Then following that is the financial freedom to be able to make as much as I want and to give myself a raise when I wanted without having to hope that others see my value and effort.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is HLJ Growth. It stands for Helping Lead and Jumpstart Growth. Most individuals were never taught how money works and what you can do to make sure compound interest is always working in your favor. Most people hear debt is bad, you have to save instead and spend and the 401K/Market is the only way to grow wealth. All of those are grossly inaccurate.

Debt is not bad its a choice to pay things off over time. Debt can also be leveraged to make a thing called arbitrage. These are things that I am most proud of. The fact that I get the opportunity to help others make a major impact in their finances simply by using concepts that we, for whatever reason, were never taught or taught but we never instructed on how to apply. PLUS some of the concepts have a level of certainty that most never new existed.

I got where I am through hard work, rigor, always doing the right thing by the client and not willing to give up on others. Even when they have given up on themselves. I overcame challenges by reaching out to those mentors and coaches that I hired to help me navigate the land minds of not only my industry but my mind as well. Let’s be honest…. I made some things WAY harder and complicated than they needed to be. Having them by my side to help navigate, talk me off the ledge and motivate me to do what I already knew to do was super helpful.

Along the way I have learned this simple fact. Knowledge and action go hand in hand. You can’t have one without the other. Also, when you always do the right thing it all works out NO MATTER WHAT!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a National Park junky! Bonus if those National Parks have mountains to climb and unique experiences to experience. So of course I would take them to some National Parks and see all the amazing things the United States has to offer. Along the way we would stop at all the unique mom and pop stores and restaurants to eat their best selling food!

Nothing spells adventure like hitting the road and stopping at whatever comes up along the way. The best food and experiences I have ever had is when there were really no plans other than the start and stop date.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Throughout my career I have had several mentors and coaches and have read a TON of books. So to list them all here would be lengthy. To sum it up, I learned that to always move forward and always grow I have had a least 1 coach, 1 mentor and read at least 2 books a month. My favorite books are Relentless Solution Focus and Extreme Ownership. I believe these to be mandatory for every entrepreneur.
