We had the good fortune of connecting with Pamela and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pamela, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
It really doesn’t take much to make me happy, some good music, a little sunshine, and time with my family and I’m good. And then there are dogs!! Every single one I see instantly makes me feel calm, comfortable, and happy. They just have that magic about them, and being around them always brightens my day.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is about celebrating dogs as family. At Furr Haus, I create portraits that are modern, stylish, and full of personality, but most of all, I capture the quirks and expressions that make each dog unique. I already own two other photography studios, so branching out into pet photography felt like a no-brainer. Dogs bring me so much happiness, and every time I have a shoot, I get to meet a new, lovely dog — and that joy shines through in the photos.

What sets me apart is that I don’t expect dogs to sit perfectly or pose. I work with them as they are — with treats, play, and patience, and that’s where the magic happens.

Meeting new dogs is the best part of what I do, and it means a lot to know their parents will always have photos that keep those memories alive.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting for a week, I’d definitely show them some of my favorite East Valley hikes, places like Usery Pass or the Superstitions. There’s nothing like starting the day outside with those desert views. After that, we’d make our way to downtown Gilbert for food and drinks, it’s always buzzing and has so many fun options. If we were up for venturing a little further, I’d take them to Cibo in downtown Phoenix for dinner (their patio is the best), and maybe stop at the Phoenix Art Museum to mix in some culture. And of course, at some point, we’d grab wine at Postino’s, because it’s one of those places you can’t skip. It would be a mix of outdoors, good food, and local spots, exactly the kind of week I’d want to share with a friend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely wouldn’t be where I am without the people around me. My family has always been my biggest support system, encouraging me to chase creative ideas and helping me through the ups and downs of running a business. I also have to give a shoutout to my clients, especially the ones who trusted me in the early days of Furr Haus. Every person who brings their dog into the studio adds to this story, and I don’t take that for granted. And honestly, the dogs themselves deserve credit too. They’re the reason this studio even exists. Their joy and unconditional love are what inspire me every single day.
