We had the good fortune of connecting with Cara Isaac and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was preparing for retirement after 28 years as a 9-1-1 police dispatch supervisor and looking for a retirement job. I had spent my career dealing with everyone’s worst day and wanted something much lighter and something more geared to people’s best day. I love photos and the memories they hold, and decided to start a Photo Booth business where I could capture memories on people’s best days.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being behind the headset as a 9-1-1 operator my whole life, I wasn’t business minded. When it came to building a successful business, I had to learn everything and have the courage and confidence to know what it would take to stand out in an event/wedding type industry. Being the face of my business was something I was very unfamiliar with, and was probably my biggest challenge. I learned that it’s never too late to start something new.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite places in Arizona are Pinetop and Sedona. I love a cool get away from the valley. We’ve taken trips to fish, hike, and of course try great new Mom & Pop restaurants.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband…when I approached him with my idea of starting my own business (which I literally knew nothing about how to start a business) he was in full support! I buckled down and started learning how to build a business plan, start an LLC, build a website, and the list goes on and on. He was my biggest supporter and runs the business with me. He attends as many of our events as he can right along side me.
