We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasandra Kunst and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasandra, how does your business help the community?
Teaching voice and piano lessons help children and adults learn skills that help their neurological function, as well as mental health. Music allows us to communicate emotions we cannot fully express with words alone. It helps us to process big emotions as well. And it is fun. My studio helps those in the community express themselves and bond over the art of music.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I got my degree in music, with an emphasis in vocal performance. Right out of college I began teaching in a studio along side other jobs to help me pay off college loans. Eventually I moved away from the studio and opened my own business teaching. It isn’t always easy, but I love teaching students and seeing people love music. Music has carried me through many difficult times and I hope to spread the joy it has brought me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, first we must see Lake pleasant. Camping there would be lovely. It’s very fun. Then we definitely would need to get some delicious food at the Lake Side Bar and Grill or Cantina’s. We could spend a day at the Norterra mall. Maybe catch a movie. And then visit Hurricane Harbor and the Wildlife zoo. The last day, say Sunday, we would brunch at Haymaker’s after church at Discovery Point Church.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to my mom, dad and my husband Colin and his family. Without their support I wouldn’t have started this wonderful journey.
