Meet James Patterson | Kiwi Turf Cleaners Owner


We had the good fortune of connecting with James Patterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi James, what do you attribute your success to?
We believe our success comes from staying consistent, doing quality work, and taking the time to have honest conversations with our customers. We try to treat everyone like a friend and approach each cleaning as if it were our own backyard. That mindset has helped us earn trust, grow through referrals, and build lasting relationships with repeat customers.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets us apart from others is our attention to detail with each yard. We make sure to not leave a job until we’re satisfied and the client is satisfied.
We’re very proud of the fact that we built our business mostly off of word of mouth and referrals. We’ve avoided running loud ads and offering new customer discounts because we just want to give a great service with already honest pricing. Our best discounts are given to our family of repeat customers.
Kind of similar but I believe we’ve got to where we are because of the relationships that have been built with our customers. They’re the ones talking highly about us and making sure our name gets out there. A lot of hard work, research, and putting the time in to the business as well -but really it’s providing a reliable service that our customers our proud to share.
It definitely has not been easy. Being a first time business owner is a major challenge by itself. Theres so many decisions that have to be made that all have an effect on the future of the company and the direction it goes in. Ultimately most challenges get solved by focusing on how we can make the experience better for the customer.
There have been too many lessons learned to remember them all. I would say a big one is to always be learning and adjusting when needed. Just because something is working doesn’t mean it works for everyone every time. Always find out what the customers primary concern is and focus the bulk of the effort solving that problem.
At Kiwi Turf Cleaners, we want people to think of us when they think of quality work, good pricing, and of course turf. We’re a family owned business that believes great service shouldn’t be complicated or overpriced. That’s why when you call or text, you’re talking directly with me, the owner.
Kiwi Turf was born after I received several surprisingly expensive quotes to clean my own turf about five years ago. Today, we’re proud to provide an amazing service, a simpler process, and clean turf at a clean price.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of Favorites in no order is Over Easy, Bongiorno Bagels, Elliot’s Steakhouse, North Italia, Humble Bistro, Top Golf, and any Gila River Casino for extra fun.

I’d like to give a special shoutout to my wife, Robyn. She’s been a business owner for over 10 years and has supported me every step of the way—helping navigate new challenges, offering guidance, and encouraging growth as we continue to move forward. Thanks Robyn!
