We had the good fortune of connecting with Portia Chapel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Portia, how do you think about risk?
I feel that risk taking is a necessity when having your own business. There could be many opportunities that you could miss out on that you wouldn’t ever know about. The role that risk taking has affected my life is moving to a whole new city and finding out my passion with modeling. If I never took that risk, I wouldn’t be where I am in life. Taking risks has brought me more knowledge, passion, adventure, and ambition and I can’t wait to see the risks I take in the near future.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from other models in the area is my creativity. Modeling is more than just looking beautiful and standing there, it’s being able to show different expressions and to do different poses. What I’m most proud of is the content that I’m able to make while working with some amazing teams. I got to where I am today in the modeling world because I never gave up. Modeling definitely makes you rethink a lot of things and does affect your mindset but when you see a true passion and have the ability to carry it out, you never want to give up. Lessons I learned along the way is to throw yourself out there. Being scared and uneducated won’t get you very far in the industry. Doing research with brands, agencies, posing, models in the area, and making yourself be known is a major key factor. What I want to be most known for is all the many things I will overcome in the modeling world to be successful.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area I would take her to my favorite restaurant in Scottsdale, Kasai for food and drinks. I would show her the nightclubs in old town and probably be beat at bowling at Skylanes. Arizona is filled with so many interesting, creative, and phenomenal places to visit that I haven’t even seen half of it so we’d be going in with a few of adventure.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The main people I would like to give a shout out to would be my sister Megan and my best friend Erica. It took me awhile to find my passion but they were the two main people that never gave up on me. I would like to give credit to Coco Rocha. She is an amazing woman that not only mentored me but also ignited the flame of passion to have creativity with modeling.
