We had the good fortune of connecting with Kj Bennett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kj, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose the artistic/creative route because from the inception Of my brand, JoeeSpacey, to now, I’ve been learning new ways to create and express myself. Ultimately, being creative enables me opportunities to meet other creatives, to travel, to network and build something that I actually care for and enjoy being apart of. I enjoy making visuals, graphics, designing clothes and partnering with other brands to get projects done or, at the very least, to help one another with growth and expansion. I believe that the fashion + design lane is perfect for me and I’ve been growing and spreading my wings with every bit of progression I’ve encountered along this journey. Being a creative/artist enables me to get out my head and to show people my ideas and/or maybe how I feel about some things. To simply show my love for characters and designs & patterns. At the base, I aim to get out my dreams and thoughts, but we DO make things to enable chances to be paid for our creations and intellectual property and to get by without having to conform to everyday jobs/gigs.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It wasn’t exactly “easy” to be recognized for what I do, so ultimately I had to think outside of my own box and think MORE on the things that I like about fashion + design. Partnering with spicycoco.png (mia B Adams) was a huge addition to what I was trying to achieve/build because we mesh so well personally AND creatively. Alot of projects have and are STILL going into the foundation of JoeeSpacey. It’s always a show & prove kind of thing for sure. I am most proud of the branding for JoeeSpacey. Just the overall work ethic we put into the business part, we don’t just focus on creating designs y’know? Also, once we finished our first logo for a dmv (dc, maryland, virgina) client, I typed up a contract to sell them the design back 100% so it’ll be there’s officially. A big step in the creation process but definitely a testament to my business mind and following what feels right and ethical. I’m proud of everything good or bad so far because it’s all important to me. Wins and losses alike.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If in arizona we’d hit the following spots: we’d go to einstein bros, workout in the sun and visit downtown phoenix for the art work and galleries/museums. I’d pickup mexican food or go-to one of my regular favorites, in-n-out or noodles nd co and ride around to show them the area. We’d definitely bike around the city to get a good point of view of Arizona. We might take a hiking trip to Sedona to see northern AZ and checkout a few restaurants + art shows while here also. If in the dmv (dc, maryland, virginia) I’d take them to gallery place/georgetown to show them the city and to get a feel of how the dmv is and moves. We’d still go checkout the galleries (theyre free in the dmv) and the monuments. We’d workout at gyms, outside or universities and would bike around or take walks in between uber rides or metro/car rides to see majority of the dmv.
