Meet Chloe Chanel | Visual Artist & Music Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chloe Chanel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chloe, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Knowing whether to keep going versus when to give up is a difficult choice. I don’t think there’s really ever a time that you should give up on something. Maybe you need to change course a little bit or change your approach, but I don’t think completely giving up is the answer. When I feel like something is getting too hard and I feel like I want to quit, I have a conversation with myself, a sort of pep talk. But most importantly, I ask myself some hard questions. 1. Why do I feel like giving up? 2. How important to me is this thing that Im considering giving up, and why? 3. How does this thing serve me and my purpose? Once I ask myself those important questions, I immediately have a clearer vision of what I’m doing and what I want to do. I can make a determination at this point because I’ve really taken the time to think about it and how this change might affect my life. 9/10 I choose to keep going after this conversation with myself. I usually also walk away with new ideas on how to approach working out the issues so that I can keep going.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a multi-hyphenate artist, so I dabble in a few different mediums when it comes to creating. My online gallery, infinitelywavy.com, hosts my music, photography & videography, and fashion designs. This gallery is what I’m most proud of currently, because as a multi-hyphenate, it gets difficult and discouraging sometimes to be in singular types of art spaces. So, I created a place where all of my art and art styles can live together. My biggest challenge was figuring out how to create this space where I could showcase music and visuals and sell merch, while keeping it cohesive without my different projects clashing or seeming out of place. I’m still working out the kinks, but the gallery just launched in December of 2020, so I know I still have a ways to go, but I’m just very excited to be on the journey. I’d describe my art as engaging, conversation inducing, yet simple. I photograph people or places that move me and often times I bring those two together. I love scouting locations for shoots and then bringing a model there. To me, simple additions to natural beauty make for a beautiful photo. I approach my clothing designs in a similar way. I create simple designs, that make bold statements. Right now it’s mostly just streetwear, with plans to expand into footwear and jewelry in the future. Last, but certainly not least is the music. I make beats, write, and produce songs. The music I make doesn’t necessarily fit into just one genre, sometimes I make R&B other times I make trap music or EDM; It really just depends on how I feel in a moment. I make art only when I’m moved to, so it has a lot of emotion and honesty in it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I definitely love the Roosevelt Arts District, especially on First Fridays (pre-COVID). There’s lot of cute art galleries, smoke shops, record stores and restaurants in that area that I love. Then we would probably head over to Oldtown Scottsdale, another great area to eat and drink with a lot of cute breweries and restaurants. I love brunch so RnR would definitely be one of the spots. In March, I love to hit up Sloane Park for Cubs Spring Training, and there’s a lot of other cool Spring Training Stadiums, but that one’s my favorite. We HAVE to go hiking, because it’s one of my favorite things to do in the Valley. We would have to hit up Camelback, South Mountain and North Mountain for sure. During hockey season we would probably head out to Glendale to catch a game, and do some shopping!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s a long, very long list of people who have had a hand in my success. So many things I’ve accomplished in this life were done so with the help of my family. However, there are a few close friends, my crew, who watched me dream, listened to me vent, and pushed me when I couldn’t push myself. So in addition to my family, I’d like to dedicate this to my mentor Bryana, my manager Isra, my best friend Gio and my good friend Kelsey, who recommended me for this article.
