We had the good fortune of connecting with Karyn Hendricksen, MS and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karyn, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My mission is to help individuals set themselves free from chronic pain that prevents them from living their best life. The “fitness” world is constantly sending mixed messages which often leads to confusion, over-exercise and possibly pain or injury. My program “Mindful Muscle Method” brings a new approach to movement. It incorporates deliberate, slow, isometric-type movement that is safe for nearly any-body. I have developed this program from over twenty years of working with individuals one on one as a Kinesiologist and Muscle Activation Specialist. I believe to truly gain lifelong strength that mindfulness, breath and movement are all imperative parts of the process. I know that pain and inability to move correctly can impact a person’s quality of life, happiness and confidence. I want people to know there is an answer and it’s a cost effective, safe and minimalist approach.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am most excited about accomplishing my vision of creating weekly online classes as well as an On Demand Video series that now houses over forty videos from ten to fifty minutes long. It was my dream to be able to reach people who couldn’t come for a one on one session or didn’t live in my area. When lock down hit, my clients did not feel comfortable seeing me in person right away which took away most of my income. I knew I could either sink or swim. I could either hide under the covers and be a victim or put my head down and accomplish my dream of taking my business online. I am extremely proud of myself for accomplishing this. There was a lot I had to learn in a short period of time but I proved that we can do anything we set our minds to! I now teach two live classes weekly, Tuesdays at 4-5pm MST and Fridays at 9-10am MST. Each week I focus on a different body part as well as incorporate a full body session. If individuals cannot make my classes they can choose a membership of just the online videos for only $13/month. There is truly something for everyone who wants to improve their strength and movement. I’m excited to continue to add more content and variety to my online membership including; meditation, wellness hacks, chair movement and more! I also created essential oil blends for eleven different body parts to use as an additional tool for healing. The blends were intentionally created with the emotional connection to physical pain. In the near future I will offer a live and online workshop the includes movement, essential oils, mindset training and more.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I just had my best friend in town and loved showing her around town! We stayed active by hiking Gateway in North Scottsdale and walking on the Greenbelt. We are both health nuts so we loved eating at: Lemonade Lemonade, True Food Kitchen, Chop Shop, Kaleidoscope, and Stratta Kitchen. If we had more time I would have taken her to The Phoenix Public Farmers Market or Roadrunner Market on Saturday morning for some fresh veggies and treats. I also love a fun shopping day in Oldtown, Scottsdale or The Quarter.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My biggest support system and fan has always been my husband, Russ. He has known me through the evolution of my business and is always there cheering me on when times are good, as well as challenging. I truly am so blessed and grateful to have him in my corner. My clients motivate me to continue serving, learning, and expanding. Watching their transformations and healing makes my heart so full and keeps me going on this path. They teach me, as much as I teach them and are absolutely the best! Lastly all the women entrepreneurs who are plugging along day in and day out to accomplish their goals and serve from the heart inspire me on a daily basis. And especially my strong women tribe who I can call anytime for guidance (they know who they are)!:)
