We had the good fortune of connecting with David Bermudez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Honestly, the one thing I believe that has helped me to succeed to where I am so far is consistency. You can’t take breaks and become easily distracted. I always ask for advice, do research, and ask for feedback because I want to be the best at whatever it is that I do.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When it came to art, I always wanted to be an artist or creative personnel. I wanted to write screenplays whether it was for TV, theater or feature films. However, most won’t take you seriously unless you’re established but unfortunately in my case I was undoubtedly “type-casted” which led to me not being able to branch out. This is why I’m establishing Goofbird Entertainment. As a newcomer to the industry, funding is hard which is why I’ve turned to crowdfunding but receiving positive feedback on my potential projects always makes me excited for what can happen next.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Man, if we going to eat we’re going to my mom’s house! But if she don’t want to be bothered, we’re going to Barney’s or Zachary’s. Burgers or Pizza – you can’t go wrong with that. In COVID times, not much is open for hanging out or visiting but I’d definitely take my visitors through East Oakland stomping grounds.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Everyone. My critics and all my supporters motivate me to being the best version of myself. My parents – they’re always telling me to never settle and to work hard at whatever it is I choose to do. I’ve also had a few friends who encouraged me to try other ventures which is why I’ll never settle. I always want to develop and master new skills.
