We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlyn Benincosa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaitlyn, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I feel the habits I have that help contribute to being successful is time management. I am still a University student AND I am still working my regular job – so sometimes it can be hard to fit in working on my business! Every week, I schedule what I am going to work on with my days off. Once I complete a task, I cross it off of my list. I NEVER get through my whole list. I never try to get down on myself, because I know that I am literally doing as much as time allows me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am currently going to school full-time at Arizona State University (FORKS UP) and I am currently a vet tech, working with the most amazing co-workers I could ever ask for.
In between all of that, I run my own business catering to weddings and events. I offer silk, wood, dried and fresh flowers! I also have started a new line called “Embroidery Floral wedding veils”, making custom-made veils that are unique! I LOVE celebrating each season, I recently just finished hosting this cool giveaway where I partnered up with other awesome vendors for a “Spooky Styled Shoot”! I am looking forward to launching other new possibilities in the future, as I am always coming up with such fun and creative ideas.
Becoming who I am was never easy, as I am always faced with doubtful thoughts that run through my brain. It is so easy to look at someone else and say “Look at what they have. Why am I not there, like them?” I have to remember that it took them time to become successful. You don’t get 500 followers overnight. You don’t get 10 clients overnight. It always takes time and patience. Sometimes, I am never good at that, if I am being completely honest.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As an Arizona native, I think it would be biased to say that I love ALL that Arizona has to offer. We have beautiful desert mountains AND snow mountains, depending on where you go. My most recent favorite mountain to go to is the Superstition Mountains!
My favorite drink shop is Jamba Juice – Vanilla Blue Sky. But, I always get Pumpkin Smash when it is in season. You may also find me stopping at Swig, if I am in Mesa or Gilbert.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have so many people that have contributed to my current success. The main person that really got me thinking, “I should create my own business doing flowers”, was Jody Moore. She is a life coach, and she has this amazing program called “Be Bold”. One month, the topic was “How to Dream Big”. In summary, that is where it all started! Little did I know that it gave me the power and motivation to think outside of the box. I never thought this was something I could do. Because in all honesty, it is hard starting up and maintaining your own business. It looks so easy and glamorous, but it is not at all that.
My parents, Gaylan and Polly have always taught me to “dream big” AND how to go after it. My Husband, Brennan is my BIGGEST supporter, as he is literally “all-in” with me. My siblings, In-laws, extended family are also all big supports.
