We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Louis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paul, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue an artistic career because I love taking ideas and bringing them to life. You can do so many things with a microphone, a camera and a computer. The possibilities are endless. You can literally create anything you want. I love being able to have fun and express myself through my work and be able to tell my story and life experiences.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from others is that I’m brutally honest in my songs. I literally rap about stuff I do in my everyday life and never try to be something I’m not. I believe the number one rule to success is to just be yourself. It’s not easy trying to do that because a lot of people can get caught up in all the distractions and trying to be “cool”. If you’re genuine, people will recognize that and they will appreciate you for staying true. That’s the message I want to try to get across. Be comfortable in your own skin and just enjoy life as yourself. Don’t try to fit in with others and don’t try to be someone you know you’re not.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m lame and like to keep it simple. I’ll probably be at a mall, arcade or bowling alley. I like to be out enjoying everything around me and being able to communicate with others and see what people are up to. I’m born and raised and Arizona and never been to the Grand Canyon so that should probably change.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My dad was the number one person in my life. He taught me everything I know when it comes to living life and being a good human being. He unfortunately passed away a couple years ago and the main thing he always preached to me is to be myself and not care about what other people think. He allowed me to do whatever made me happy and never forced me to do anything.
