We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Cade and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
This question made me smile just thinking about it. Believe it or not LACEDUPBEAUTY derived due to the failure of an online jewelry business. With little to no understanding of how oversaturated the jewelry market truly was, my first business idea flopped within 6 weeks. Still, I was determined to make something with this new online business. So, I ask myself “What’s something I absolutely enjoy doing……. Making wigs! Recently and for the first time ever I had chopped off majority of my hair in leu of this new healthy hair journey. In doing so I discovered how truly liberating it felt to change your hairstyle in minutes all while protecting your crown in the process. Before I knew it, I had prospects asking about my hair growth journey, wig customizations, and more. I read somewhere that if you find a product or service that serves a purpose, you’ll gain more than success. Thinking about that last statement, I was certain this was the way to go. With honors I must say, LACEDUPBEAUTY is serving a purpose. That purpose it to encourage and inspire women around the world to feel beautiful in their own skin…. with or without a lace wig.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Ever heard the term “wigslayed” or “wigslayer”? Sounds a bit harsh I know but it’s so fitting. We have the skills to customize a lace wig so realistic in appearance, most won’t know it’s a wig. I believe what sets me apart from others is my drive to achieve professional results paired with my willingness to learn. Although I didn’t attend hair or cosmetology school, that didn’t stop me from becoming one of the best “wigslayers” in Arizona. I consider each opportunity, a learning opportunity. For example, I used to only construct custom orders however after listening to my clients I discovered stylish “ready to wear units” were in high demand. Just like many other products consumers buy based of what is readily available vs the hypotheticals. Now LACEDUPBEAUTY offers both options! I want the world to know It wasn’t always easy, but it was always worth it. One of the lessons I have learned is that success and consistency are married. With consistency and passion, LACEDUPBEAUTY provides beautiful results for beautiful people. And that just feels amazing! Follow your heart and you can achieve anything!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting, we would check out the latest greatest restaurant in town or possibly even the valley food trucks! We are both huge foodies and it doesn’t take much to make something of our day. I would also have tickets to “Paint N Sip”. Create a beautiful masterpiece with your best friend all while enjoying a classic bottle of wine? Sign me up! Once it winds down, we “turn up” enjoying the nightlife in Scottsdale. We typically have the most fun venturing to new places every other hour until its time to go home, but not before grabbing some of the best tacos in town from Blanco Tacos. In the morning, we would make the greatest breakfast with grits, eggs, toast, waffle, hash browns and sea moss! We need our vitamins which we’ll use as energy to tackle the nearest hiking trail. The rest of the week would pretty much be on repeat checking out different areas of Arizona, may even visit downtown phoenix for a comedy show at Stand Up Live. The most fun and interesting places are those yet explored. Especially alongside a bestie!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To start out I am a very spiritual person, so I first have to thank God for guidance and allowing me to follow my heart. My biggest troopers Mya Fiarri and Saniysa Lott were my very first clients and still are this present day. They have always supported and purchased several units from LACEDUPBEAUTY. Through kind words they have encouraged me to utilize my talents and follow my dreams. Miss Saniysa, who is also my aunt, has provided endless free marketing and free time to further my creative skills. Thank you so much. Ladies I truly appreciate your support.
