We had the good fortune of connecting with Karlee Jaramillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karlee, what principle do you value most?
A value that has always mattered to me, especially as a photographer, is that of servanthood. Using my talents and resources to serve others. In the creative industry, the service I give to my clients is such a gift, and something they will likely carry with them for the rest of their lives. They chose me to be a part of such sacred and memorable moments in their lives, and that’s something I don’t take lightly. It’s sobering to remember that of the thousands of creatives they could have picked, they chose me! So, I intentionally strive to not only give them the best product I can, but the best experience. A mentor once told me to “shoot little league like it’s the world series”, and that’s always stuck with me. Leaving my creative ego at the door and choosing to do everything possible to serve my clients not only fulfills me, but more importantly, it blesses them with an irreplaceable gift.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a wedding and lifestyle photographer, and have been shooting full-time since 2015. I attended photography school for two years while waiting tables, and it took me around four years to leave my day job and pursue photography full time. It wasn’t easy, but the biggest step toward my goal was investing in my education. By having the mindset that I could never stop learning, I’ve opened myself up to so many lifelong sills, opportunities, and relationships. I am so in love with what I do for a living, and I still pinch myself that this is the path I’m lucky enough to take in life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love downtown Gilbert! My favorite restaurant is Clever Koi, followed by s stop at Sotol rooftop bar or the White Rabbit speakeasy. There are also so beautiful air bnb’s near the area, all walking distance from the nightlife and fun!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
