We had the good fortune of connecting with Al Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Al, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
The mission is to take the time to carry out maintenance on the local courses that we come across on our travels across the United States. Anything From Cleaning top rings, pull/cut weeds around teebox/baskets, collect trash on and around the course, empty trash cans and overall stewartship. Everyone wants to enjoy playing on a well kept course, so we want to give back to the sport and community that has given so much to us.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are fully crowd funded. Spending well over 255 hours, 2807 throws on 53 courses this past year, all these vast and differing landscapes has allowed me to find a similarity amongst them. It has opened my eyes to seeing how badly an abundance of maintenance is needed. Making this connection is what inspired me to start Recharge Disc Golf.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We spent Jan & Feb 2019 in AZ during our inaugural tour. The courses in AZ are great and plentiful. Of course Fountain Hills, Arizona host a Major tournament in the the Memorial Championship and we had the pleasure to go to that in 2019 and walk with the main card! Definitely get to the Memorial if in area!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We have always cleaned and picked up at disc golf courses but @pandemic_discgolf on Instagram really sparked the basket cleaning and to pursue full time stewartship.
