We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerome Greene and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerome, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking plays a very important part both in business and with anything in life.. believe it or not we take risk every day. In business, specifically with being a Chef we take risk all the time with recipes. Some turn out delicious and others not so much, but I’ve found that taking risk with recipes have led to some really great dishes. When I relocated to Phoenix back in 2012, I left my family, home, job, car and friends, everything! I packed 1 duffle bag and moved across country to pursue my dreams. I didn’t have a solid plan, but I knew that I wanted more so I took the biggest risk of life at that point. I learned a lot during the process and wouldn’t change anything. The one risk in business that I wouldn’t advise is, Don’t risk your reputation, it takes forever to build a good one but only a matter of minutes to ruin it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When it comes to choosing a career, I don’t think you choose it, it choses you. What I mean by that is your career should be something that you love and that you are passionate about. Something that you do for the enjoyment, not the money. Don’t get me wrong money is important but it shouldn’t be what motivates you. For me, cooking is in my DNA my entire family cooks, but I always knew that I wanted to take is a step further. Being a Chef, especially a private Chef, you wear many hats and this job comes with a lot of long hours and criticism, so it’s definitely not for the weak. During the pandemic I know so many business that closed it was very difficult to stay afloat and I’m blessed  to still be standing. One thing I’d learned and I’d like to share with the community is it’s important to keep learning and evolving and don’t be afraid to share information with others, it’s enough food out here for us all to eat, I mean that literally and figuratively.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ironically, one of my favorite places in Phoenix, isn’t food or even in Phoenix, LOL. It’s Sedona…it’s beautiful, breathtaking, refreshing and peaceful! It’s a great place to go for a hike or just to  clear your mind. Now, when it comes food, everyone should try the #1 rated wing spot in Phoenix, Valley Wings. Full disclaimer, I am somewhat bias, because I am the original Chef and menu creator.  A few of my other go-to spots is Kasi Hibachi grill. I love seafood, so I would recommend Maple and Ash for good seafood and good drinks. A couple of my other favorite spots are the Beverly on Main and for good vibes with good brunch on the side, you have to try Sugar Jam.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
None of my success would be possible without God. Next, are my family and friends, even the new family that I’ve gained since moving here to Phoenix. Lastly, I appreciate my social media family,  the support doesn’t go unnoticed.
