Hi Dereck, how does your business help the community?
I’ve been a full-time gamer for 10 years and recently jumped into the tiktok world! I had no idea the impact I would have in saving restaurants life’s! I started doing food reviews about 5 months ago which then I was at 2500 followers. Fast forward to now I’m at 170,000 just on tiktok. I started this whole thing because once covid hit there were family business’s that lost a 30-60 year business due to no one going out. I always told myself if I could get 1 person through someone’s door it would mean the world to me. I became so viral with my awesome community backing me that we have saved so many establishments. So viral we have had 3 restaurants shut down for a day or 2 because they ran out of food and needed to recoup. I’ve been told I’m the next big thing the food network should pick up. I’ve been told not all hero’s wear capes! It’s honestly a lot to take in to hear the stories and praise that happens after I upload a new review I have posted. It’s truly a blessing

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
10 years ago I had a passion for gaming! At the time it was unheard of that someone could truly make a living and support a family by being a content creator. I took a leap of faith after my son was born into this unknown world and Worked 16 hr days! I got really big on a website called twitch. A place I could showcase my gaming talent and entertainment values and general love for people! I eventually after some up and downs didn’t give up and pushed through to a website called mixer. Mixer was owned by Microsoft. Eventually they would shut down out of no where and left me feeling depressed and wondering my next move! I got involved with a tournament website company called hyperluxe and became vp for them and helped revolutionized that market. Then I signed with Fb gaming and eventually found my way back to twitch. Out of the blue a buddy of mine from the uk believed in my content so much he made me a tiktok page. I wanted nothing to do with it. I was already so busy. One day I said you know what, I want to do some food reviews and see if I can help just one person. Today the impact I have on smaller Businesses is just absolutely insane!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Locally for me in Ohio we have some amazing Eateries so I would say gervasi vineyard, willow or bubbas 33 for food. I would take them hiking at some of the cool nature parks we have as well. I would definitely take them out to a pool hall/bar I frequent called fiddlesticks  which is like my family for the nightlife

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In all honesty I’m nothing without the community I have built through my gaming career and my food reviews! These people are the unsung heroes. The ones that watch every video all the way through then like, comment, and share the videos. They are just as much important as me putting these videos together and trying to bring the spotlight to these restaurants. I would be nothing without my community.
