We had the good fortune of connecting with CHRISTLE MCGINNIS and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi CHRISTLE, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Having dealt with severe endometriosis & infertility, I knew if I was ever to have children of my own I would want to be able to stay home with them. After a successful round of IVF & a surprise pregnancy a few years later, I decided to take a leap of faith & just go for it!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I work with epoxy creating custom tumblers, epoxy tables, bridal bouquet preservations, and much more. This journey has definitely been filled with failures and also many successful beautiful pieces. One of the most important things I’ve learned along my way is to never give up & to embrace failures as a learning experience.
By thinking this way I have been able to improve my technique when working with epoxy.
I first started my business creating shirts & find it important as a creator to always push myself to learn new things. The first time I ever came across a vendor that created custom tumblers, I was in complete awe & knew I had to learn how to do this. A few years later the same thing happened when a friend of mine was looking to have her wedding bouquet preserved. She had the confidence in me to preserve them in resin & I’ve loved doing them ever since.
Everything I create comes from a place of gratitude, whether it’s a shirt, pen, tumbler or Floral preservation. I put my all into everything I make & really do a little dance of joy with each order I receive.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Buckeye is one of my favorite cities. I love all the old buildings that are in the downtown town area. We would definitely eat at one of my favorite places, Cafe 2535. Everything they have is very delicious! Next we would need to do some shopping at Screws & Sparkles, making sure to grab some coffee from Degino Coffee Bar located right inside! Their coffee will not disappoint. I love their sweet & salty! Since we are in Buckeye we would have to top the day off with a hike of the Verrado stairs! It’s 300 plus steps but so worth it When you get to the top.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Having come so far in my small business journey would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the support of my family & friends. From my husband who supports and goes along with my crazy “we can do this” ideas to my mom, sister and mother-in-law who will also pitch in to help with the kids & even help me with making products from time to time. I also find inspiration from other creators who post tutorials on YouTube & other social media platforms. I appreciate their willingness to share their knowledge. By them doing this it helps creators like myself have a place to go to learn & eventually do the same for others.
