We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Krol and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I always enjoyed Endurance sports because it is a direct reflection of the work you put in. When running a 100 miles in the mountains you can’t fake it. It is an exclusive club that you have to work very hard to become part of. I feel like starting your own business is just like running a 100 miles. If you don’t put in the work the business fails. There are going to be highs and lows. One minute you feel like you are on top of the world, the next minute you are questioning everything!? It is a long journey and you must love the process. If you concentrate on the end goal or the finish line it will break you mentally. The habits I formed from endurance sports have given me the work ethic and the mental fortitude to be an entrepreneur.

What should our readers know about your business?
I used to be a personal trainer. One of my very first clients I helped him lose a 100 lbs and run a very difficult 100K ultra marathon. I changed this man’s life. With his new found confidence he met his wife. He sold his audi for a more practical vehicle. His entire outlook on life changed over the course of a year. It was this experience that I realized the power of endurance sports and spending time in nature. He didn’t lose a 100 lbs by setting a small achievable goal. He didn’t concentrate on vanity or impressing others. It was by setting a huge goal that seemed absurd at the time.

I want Boundless, our brand to be recognized for changing peoples lives. To getting more people outdoors in nature. Recognized for creating happiness in peoples daily lives by settings goals that are scary. Scary because success is not guaranteed. It is when these audacious goals are achieved that lives are changed.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to dear friend Kimo Seymour. Before leaving my comfortable job of 10 years I was at a cross roads and scared to take the plunge. I reached out to Kimo for some advice and mentorship. Without hesitation he dropped everything and met me for dinner. I was under challenged in my current career and felt like I wasn’t reaching my full potential. Kimo listened with understanding and encouraged my vision. I always looked up to Kimo and his success in business and his ability to turn a vision into reality. His confidence in me was the nudge I needed. Often times all it takes is someone believing in you.
