We had the good fortune of connecting with Cuppy Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cuppy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was this. There is only two portions you are either going to sink or swim.
I decided regardless of what came my way I would choose to swim.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always been someone that lives in her imagination. Growing up I looked up to Walt Disney and Willy Wonka. These two characters for me created a “ magical world.”
I love creating magical combinations with florals inspired by my childhood memories, movies, and pop culture! As a florist I believe that this is what sets me apart. I create for myself and not for others.
The challenge is that florals have always been portrayed as a “safe” and “traditional” craft and im hoping to really push those boundaries with mixing colors, patterns, flowers and even non floral items together in a boquetes, installation or arrangement.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am new to the city but, my favorite spots in town are fourtillfour I am convinced they make 5he best almond latte and Monroe’s you can’t say no to fried chicken!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband has been my biggest supporter. He has encouraged me every step of the way! In the beginning stages of Wildposy he would be right there working with me and going above and beyond with whatever I needed.
I also want to thank one of my best friends Alicia we started this company together and although, she has gone her separate way she was very much apart of the beginning stages. I wouldn’t be where I am today without acknowledging her hard work, love and dedication.
