Meet Tyler Burr | Rapper/Hip Hop Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Burr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally from Muskegon, Michigan now staying in Phoenix, Arizona. Back home plays a huge part in everything I do because it makes you a type of person. How you move, how you think, how you talk.. It’s definitely a city that if I grew up anywhere else, I wouldn’t be me. Which made moving to Arizona so dope because it was a whole different world. I’ve been able to take the vibes from here along with who I am & I think that plays a big part in my music right now.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a rapper/hip hop artist. Big giant huge student of the genre. I think that’s what makes me different from some others. They might like to rap or think it’s fun, & while I do too, I’m IN LOVE with this thing. Since I was a kid music has always been something more for me. When everyone else wanted to be whatever they wanted to be when they grew up, I knew I wanted to make music. So I think there’s a little more passion involved when it comes to me & mine. I’m probably most proud of my lyricism & ability to say things that are relatable. Both of those things I think I just got from being so heavy on the artist I was on back in the day.
I’ve always been into music & had an infatuation with it since super young. But I first got into it for real maybe 7th grade. I’ll never forget me & one of my friends Justin were in his moms van vibing to the drought 3. & somehow we just got to freestyling along with the songs. & I remember it being mad fun & that was the start of my interest to want to rap. Then freshman year of high school one of my other friends, Vontae, who I was in a group with at the time but we hadn’t actually made any music yet, came to me & said he had a mixtape. So he put me on to the little at home headset mic studio, & it was lit after that.
Ever since it’s been all about the level up. As I got more experience & knowledge I’ve improved my craft & have been able to take it way further than I used to. It’s never easy, but if you love something enough the hard parts be worth it.
I want my music to be something people can relate to. Something they can listen to when their feeling that same way & use as the soundtrack to their life. Because I remember my favorite artist doing that for me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’re going to all the bar spots off top lol everything on Mill Ave. Fat Tuesday’s always a cool spot to slide for a drink. If it’s hot enough out, which it always is, gotta go to Maya’s in Scottsdale with the pool. If your an outdoors type of person theres so many places for you to go. As far as food it really be like take your pick lol it’s so many options. Back in my hometown there were like 4,5 choices. So I’m still overwhelmed by all the places to pick from. When I first got here my cousin took me to Pete’s fish and chips. Their definitely a hit.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
S/o to the team! SSO & NBR. Those are my guys man. I would be nowhere close to the level of artist I am without the experiences I shared with them. Started making music when we were young, & they pushed me to be the best I could. So yea, it’s always us over everything.
