Meet Christina Tingley | Owner/ Licensed Clinical Social Worker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Tingley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Vitellaria Wellness is an inclusive mental health collective specializing in the treatment of trauma and addictions. We are a multidisciplinary team that utilizes traditional mental health treatment modalities, with specializations in EMDR (a type of therapy used for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and psychedelic treatments. We formed Vitellaria after we worked in hospital systems and community mental health. We saw that traditional types of mental health treatment were not adequate for clients to improve their lives and heal from trauma. Evidence indicates that trauma and addictions have increased exponentially since the pandemic and have generally been on the rise for decades. Trauma and addictions often require a variety of treatment modalities than what is utilized through the western medical model. Large medical care systems and medical insurance providers have a limited scope of treatment options. The services we provide may offer the best chance to achieve and maintain total wellness, remitting the symptoms of trauma related disorders and addictions. Our belief is that as individuals heal, this healing will have a ripple effect on families, communities and beyond.

What should our readers know about your business?
Vitellaria Wellness is a woman owned practice based in Portland, Oregon. We are a holistic mental health collective treating trauma, addictions and other mental health disorders. What sets us apart is our use of EMDR (eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy to treat PTSD symptoms as well as the use of psilocybin beginning in 2023- pending licensing through Oregon Health Authority once final rules and regulations are completed. What is extra special about our model is that we provide therapy intensives and retreats- which help our clients feel better faster. We plan to use psilocybin in conjunction with EMDR to improve outcomes for PTSD and addictions. Starting this vision has been easy as we have relied on strong clinical expertise and desire to see each clients through their recovery. Our challenge has been remaining flexible and adapting to each new development as this framework is built by the Oregon Health Authority allowing the legal use of psilocybin on a therapeutic setting.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When visiting us in Portland fun places to go are Forest Park, take a drive to Multnomah Falls-the hike is amazing, the Japanese Garden, the Rose Garden and you are only about an hours drive to the beautiful Oregon coast or Wine Country. There is also amazing dining opportunities from stretching from Wine Country to the east side of Portland.
If you are our retreats in the Phoenix area we love the little town of Carefree. The Rare Earth Gallery is a great place to pick up a healing crystal or gem. We enjoyed the fine Italian food at Giordano’s Trattoria in Carefree and the margaritas and happy hour at Spotted Donkey in Carefree were great as well!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to the Civana Resort for helping us host our first and successful EMDR retreat at their beautiful resort.
Shoutout to all the voters in Oregon who have voted in support of Oregon Ballot Measure 109 and those who have pioneered research in the use of psilocybin and psychedelics to treat mental health disorders.
