We had the good fortune of connecting with Cameron Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cameron, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We started a recovery podcast because at the time, it felt like there weren’t very many out there. We wanted a place where we could come together and talk about the struggles we deal with while maintaining our sobriety and give others a platform to to share there stories. We have found we have a lot more in common than we think we do and that by sharing them openly, we’re able to help others who are experiencing similar challenges.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think we have a way of communicating with each other that sets us apart from other podcasts. We try not to sugar coat anything we’re dealing with and be brutally honest with each other. Each week, we have someone who shares their recovery story uninterrupted, meaning we don’t stop them to ask them questions. We then find something in their story that we want to expand on and talk about how it relates in our own lives. It’s different and people really seem to like it. We’ve had some amazing guests host come on as well who will share their expertise and often tell their own war story. Our goal is simply to let any one know who may still be struggling with addiction that they are not alone and that recovery is possible. We try to have fun too. After all, we didn’t get sober just to continue to still be miserable.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’re proudly a product of Ogden, Utah and when we have people come in to town, their usually pretty captivated by our mountains. If we can, we like to get them outside for a hike so they can see the valley from the top of Ben Lomond peak. There’s nothing quite like it for sure. We have some pretty great steak houses as well that always seem to be a big hit with out-of-towners.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
For sure, this shoutout should go to Willy, my fellow podcast host, man of action, brother in sobriety and all-around helluva guy. Not only does he manage and run his own business, but he seems to do well balancing self-love, time with family, and helping others. He continues to work on himself for the benefit of the world around him.
