We had the good fortune of connecting with Cherish Chavez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cherish, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
This is a funny questions for me, I never planned (or even dreamed) of starting my own business. I guess you could say that my business found me! I began posting lighthearted videos on social platforms and three year’s later… I have a full fledged career. I’ve spent hours teaching myself the things associated with running my own platforms and certainly learned a few hard lessons along the way. It’s not “easy” but it IS simple.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Overcoming challenges… sheesh! If there were a title behind my story, that would be it. I was thrust into single-motherhood with no job, no money, in a new city and with virtually no help. It was a slow and long process but with a little elbow grease and commitment I managed to get myself and my son on our feet. I want to inspire other women to be courageous. I’m 26 years old and have built a brand that supplies my families needs. If I can do it, so can you! Yes, you.

Since having millions of eyes on us, I’ve been shown some really nasty parts of humanity. You see, my son is biracial. While it is digitally, hate and judgement come very saturated. I combat that with love and humor. This platform has given me a space to project positivity and for that, I’m eternally grateful.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not a native Arizonian but I have been lucky to find and see some of the amazing things this spectacular city has to offer. A day shopping at Fashion Square Mall, visiting the shop in Old Town and taking a walk along the water front has been “go-to.” Tempe Town Lake is another fantastic place for a picnic or some exercise. Rent a boat, see a concert… the possibilities are endless. I’d make a point to take my friends tot he Herberger Theater as well, that’s downtown. Chase Field is a beautiful place to take the family for some hotdogs and baseball! Countless hiking spots, Night Life, Shopping!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family has played a MEGA role in my success. I used to (and still do) call on my sisters whenever I need a little inspiration, advice or just someone to share good news with. I would never be where I am today is not for the influence and support of my parents and siblings.
