Meet Anna Hill | Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna, what do you want people to remember about you?
I think above all, I would love someone to remember me as an author who wrote a book they fell in love with. Whether it be The Truaillithe Chronicles or one of my upcoming releases, I hope that readers finish one of my books and it becomes a novel they wish to pass down to their kids. As an author, I can’t think of any greater honor.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always loved to write. I still have the very first book I ever wrote in third grade. It’s hilarious, but I love it. When I’d written The Tainted, I knew I was ready to begin my publishing career, so I began to research both traditional and self-publishing. While I’ve gone the traditional route with many of my short stories, for my novels I liked that self-publishing gave me the freedom to control the entire process. I began my career writing YA Fantasy, and the Fantasy genre will always be where my first love is. But I’m super excited to begin a new adventure in publishing children’s books with my mother who is an incredible artist. Our first book Sounds of The Desert, which celebrates the animals of the Sonoran Desert, has just launched and we are hard at work on our follow up book!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have to speak for Tucson as that is our area, but our favourite place is the Desert Museum! It was actually the inspiration for our first kids book. It’s such a wonderful place to learn about the amazing Sonoran Desert, and its animals, and to spend the day outside in the beautiful desert landscape.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents deserve so much credit in my success. I feel very lucky to have parents who believe in and support me. They’ve read everything I’ve ever written, from the great to the horrible, and they are constantly helping me to improve myself, my writing, and my career.
