We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Comage-Trower and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind me starting mental heart therapeutic play lab was to give children ages 3 to 11 years old a place to express himself through creativity their intuitiveness their free spirits they’re high energy giving them an area that’s safe, beautiful, calming to explore their emotions behind the big behaviors or past traumas that they’re having and work on it on their pace without any adult expectations or time limits.

What should our readers know about your business?
The thing that sets us apart is the sessions and classes aren’t built until we know who the children are and a little about them so that our classes and private sessions are customized to meet each child’s needs. We are proud to focus on the emotions behind the behaviors or trauma, increase self esteem building, social skills and offer a safe, home like atmosphere with a family feel, safe adults to mentor and support the family and the whole childs needs. The biggest challenge has been parents going through their own mental health issues and not able to make commitments to keep their children in consistent programs & funding for holistic children’s programs. We have learned that our community of Queen Creek and San Tan Valley are amazing communities with very beautiful families. I want parents to understand that children’s mental health doesn’t have to be scary or booooooring let’s put it first before extra curricular activities and school events. Treat it as important as eating healthy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We have the best lakes so we would visit each lake and eating at one of our fun restaurants such as Liberty Market place in Gilbert or La Grande Orange in Phoenix. Our art life is fun and opening ceremonies bring live local musicians.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Laneic Lavalle with Early Childhood Educator’s Academy and Porsh’a with The Free Spirited Yogi
