We had the good fortune of connecting with Aeryun Kinder and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aeryun, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started the business as a side venture a long time ago to help owners better understand their dogs and to have a better relationship with them. Once Covid came around it pushed me to really focus more on the business and do it full time.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart from other dog trainers is that I have been active in dog sports for over 15 years. I am most proud of my work with my clients and their owners. I love building my relationship with the people and then focusing on their relationship with the dog. Owning your own business is never easy. It takes a lot of hard work behind the scenes that people never really see but with persistence and guidance from others, my business has been able to blossom into what it is today. Everyday I am learning new lessons, whether in training or in the business aspects. Since we are based out of my home I am able to give the dogs around the clock care. I love that On Q Dogs LLC. gives small business relationships combined with bigger business quality.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them and my dogs out to Lake Pleasant. I love paddle boarding there. For lunch, we would head to a dog friendly place, such as, Uncle Bear’s. At night, I would have them come out with me to Whiskey Row in Gilbert. I also love to go out and do escape rooms at Escapology.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all, there are so many people that have played a part in it that I can’t name them all. Paul Hackett and Janna Duncan probably would be the people who have helped me the most. Janna and Paul run Drummond Ranch, one of Southern California’s top sheep herding facilities. This ranch and those two people mean so much to me because I wouldn’t be nearly the trainer I am today if it weren’t for them. They helped me learn concepts related to dog behavior by teaching me to work as a sheep herding instructor. They also took me under their wing during my time working with them and let me live there on their ranch. Most of my foundational and hands on dog related experience comes from my time with them. I can’t thank them enough.
