We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chelsea, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
First off, thank you so much for asking me to be a part of this interview! I’m thrilled to be here! When I first started taking Fig and Scout out on adventures (which was immediately after we brought them home) and started posting on social media, I actually never considered at that time that this could actually be my career. It was just a fun hobby. Once our following started to really grow and companies I truly believed in were contacting me to collaborate, that’s when I started realizing that I could in fact potentially make a career out of spending time with my family. Which is insanely awesome! Once I had that insight I gained more confidence and ran with it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Growing up I always had pets, and those pets we’re our family members. My parents taught me from a young age to always respect animals.

I’ve also always needed a creative outlet and have had little side businesses, such as making artwork out of buttons, and jewelry made out of polished crystals.

Once the pandemic hit I felt a bit stuck. I rent my house and was not allowed animals where I live. I felt at that time that our family needed a pet desperately so I wrote a verrrry long message to my landlord pretty much begging for a cat. One of the (many lol) promises I made, was that this cat would go everywhere with us and never be left home alone.

My landlord agreed, not expecting me to actually follow through on that promise, but I’m stubborn and wanted to see if we could do it.

I figured I may not be able to have our kitty with me at all times, but my goal was to find a kitten that could join us on all of our adventures. From walking to pick up the kids from school, to our many road trips and hotel stays, to outdoor patios for dinner and brunch. I wanted this kitten to be there with us and I hoped they loved it as much as I knew we would.

Once we brought Fig home and I attempted our first walk with her, we were both hooked! Her joy in that first walk was the incentive I needed to keep going.

I started posting our adventures on social media (there’s that creative outlet!) and USA Today reached out for an interview.. we started to grow quickly after that!

Of course I then convinced my landlord to let us have Scout haha

this is now my first year solely working at creating content and my days consist of cat snuggles and family adventures. We even got to fly to Quebec City to promote a hotel there! (We travel around promoting cat friendly accommodations)

It did take some time to learn how to create and edit videos properly, and I spend a big chunk of my day (while receiving said snuggles) working on editing. but none of what I do feels like work, as I have so much fun doing it. And Because I choose to only work with brands I truly believe in, I really love sharing the content for our followers.

It’s just been such an incredible ride and I feel incredibly blessed to be where we are

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh man, a huge, massive shoutout to my family. My partner Mark, who has always believed in me and gave me the background and understanding of how social media can be a great career path. He has never stopped encouraging me. My daughters who are just so special and my biggest cheerleaders. And Fig and Scout of course., for trusting us from day 1. They are the most chill, adventure loving cats. So very special
