We had the good fortune of connecting with Garrick Dorn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Garrick, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business has been a goal for over a decade. The experience and network that I had built over 20+ years allowed for immediate clients to support launch. Strategic savings funded my first year. My career was built on strategy and revenue generation for properties. All that I had to change in that equation was to replace “the property” with “me/my family”. Once I was comfortable with that, it was time to move forward.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
GSV is a sports practice that works nationally with the modern business and athlete. We partner with smart people and companies that think and operate outside of the mainstream. We source, negotiate and manage business on behalf of our partners, They entrust us to manage a budget and revenue scope, while becoming an extension of their business. We view these partnerships as long term and fulfilling.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My ideal day with a buddy in town would include some combination of the following:

1: Workout (Pickleball at a friends court)
2: Grab a coffee at Press or Lux
3: Play a round of golf (TPC Scottsdale or Camelback Club)
4: Dinner at Buck & Rider
5: Drinks at Camelback Inn

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I believe in a strong sphere of influence. My wife Sarah and daughters Paige and Sydney are at the tip of that sphere. They support me, they challenge me, they provide motivation.

Throughout my career I have always built a “board of directors’ to run ideas by for feedback. This group has an influence on everything that I do.
